In February and March 2010 we organized the Bergans Bajkal 2010 Expedition with anattempt to cross the Lake Baikal lengthwise. The expedition was a great success and wemanaged to cross the lake in 24 days and 6 hours becoming the world’s second fastestexpedition who ever cross the lake unassisted (using neither dogs nor kites). The fact thatthe expedition ended up well was also thanks to Tatiana Starova from A – B Tours Ltd. inIrkutsk who provided us with great support during the whole expedition.
She was our number one contact in the Baikal region and helped us a great deal withthe organization. We can only but praise everything she did for us – from picking us atthe airport to literally saving the expedition when she delivered us a new tent right to themiddle of the lake in less than a day after the tent we had with us became unusable dueto the weather we had faced on the lake. Tatiana provided us with highly professionalservice and we knew we could contact her 24/7 in case of any problem.
As I said above – we can only speak highly of everything Tatiana did for us and wecertainly recommend her travel agency to everyone who think of visiting the Baikal regionwhether it be for summer vacation or winter expedition.

Will man den Baikalsee, die Perle Sibiriens, kennen lernen undseine aussergewöhnliche Schönheit erleben, wird dies im Rahmen eines Kurzaufenthaltskaum möglich sein. Erst dann, wenn das Reiseprogramm das Entdecken der vielfältigen Regionendes Baikal gewährleistet, wird dem Besucher bewusst, was dieses “Wunder der Natur” dem Menschenund ganz besonders dem Touristen aus Europa zu offenbaren hat.
Nach der Perestroika reiste ich regelmässig alleine oder mit Studentinnen und Studenten nach Irkutsk und weiter zum Baikalsee. Dort erlebten wir jedes Mal mit unserem Reiseleiter Evgenij Kaplunenko aus Irkutsk unvergessliche Tage.
Evgenij ist schlechthin der erfahrene Baikalkenner, der zuverlässige Organisator von eindrücklichen und einmaligen Aufenthalten an diesem “Heiligen Meer” Sibiriens. Ob im Winter oder im Sommer, im Frühling oder im Herbst – der Baikal offenbart sich immer wieder neu, geprägt durch den steten Wandel der wilden Natur. Evgenij Kaplunenko ist mit diesem grössten und tiefsten Süsswassersee der Welt zutiefst vetraut und versteht es, das Erlebnis Baikal in jeder Jahreszeit dem abenteuerlich gesinnten und naturverbundenen Touristen auf eine ganz besondere Weise näher zu bringen.
Wärmstens empfehle ich deshalb Evgenij und sein Team für die Organisation von erlebnisreichen Aufenthalten in der Region des Baikal.

We are Australians living north of Brisbane in Queensland. We have been to the Baikal area twice in Winter and both times have been looked after very well by Evgenhi and his team at A-B Tours. They were well informed, English speaking guides to such places as Irkutsk and the Buryat Village.
The area is a pristine wilderness and sometimes walking on the ice of Baikal it is reminiscent of being at the South Pole as, with the silence, you cannot imagine another person being within 100 km of you.
The experience of driving a dog team through the forest and a snowmobile on the lake is a real buzz and unforgettable. Then a Russian Banya (Sauna) is a good way to finish off the day.
My wife and myself are looking forward to our next trip there (in Winter again) in 2011 when we will be looked after by the team again.
